Welsh Framed Basket - The Cyntell
Originally used for general agricultural purposes, the Cyntell is a traditional Welsh basket and would have been used to gather crops, carry animal feed etc. This mini version is woven by hand in Wales entirely from willow and measures 10"
The willow is woven round a formed willow hoop and willow ribs. I enjoy using lots of colours.

Inspiration
I am fascinated by traditional baskets and this Welsh style is a lovely one to weave. The largest baskets can be 26"+ in diameter and the hoops can take up to a year to dry. Willow is soaked first to make it pliable before weaving into shape.
