The luxurious quality of the wool upholstery fabric sample used here gives this handmade lined keepsake or jewellery pouch a padded feel to it, perfect for protecting precious gifts, jewellery when travelling or storing other keepsakes. I have given it a Japanese style drawstring top using upcycled men's silk ties, and the drawstring is cotton, with silk fabric drawstring ends. When you close the drawstring the tabs line up to form a contrasting band at the top. The lining is a pale pink silk dupion remnant from my stash. It's a versatile little bag, functioning equally well as a reusable gift pouch for small precious gifts that need some protection.

Width at top 4" (10cm)
Height to bottom of tabs: 4.5" (11.7cm)

I love the look of Japanese drawstring bags of all kinds and the work that goes into making them, and was wondering how best to use some beautiful woven wool upholstery fabric samples. I realised that I could combine them with the skinny part of the mens silk ties I was using to form the tabs and then pair with a drawstring.
