A hand built porcelain vase deep red/blue where the glaze is thick in the texture marks and breaking to white where thinner. It was made with a UK porcelain and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable. The vase is dishwasher safe and measures approximately 11cm tall and 8cm wide. The bottom is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9115.
I love making red porcelain vases because I am told by returning customers that they can become focal points in their decorative scheme. I want to engage with people by providing them with something thoughtfully handmade that contributes their home decor. My interest in this challenging type of glaze derives from previous technical research on high temperature materials and processes and an admiration of early Song dynasty red porcelains.
