Made from a salvaged pitch pine beam these pots vary from about 95 mm to 105 mm square by 140 to 150 mm tall. I've left all the side surfaces in their original condition so each side is different and made a simple shape by rounding over the top. Some have been stained and varnished to give a dramatic dark finish while others I have finished with Danish oil to give a 'natural' finish. In this one a 45 mm diameter hole has been bored in the top to hold pencils, paint brushes, pens, knitting and crochet needles, either separately or all at the same time!!. They have green felt on the base.
I made these from an old beam rescued from a Grade 1 listed house in London. I was aiming for a simple but dramatic shape and colour and I think it came off. I struggled in the deep mid winter to get some decent photos of these. Check out the general shot to get an idea about the scale between the pots and their colour.
