Hand Made Iridescent Silver Pea Pod Pendant made from Precious Metal Clay

The Silver is Precious Metal Clay. Metal clay is made of pure reclaimed silver powder mixed with a non-toxic organic binder and water. During the firing process, the harmless binder burns away and the silver particles sinter (fuse) to form a solid 99.9% pure silver piece that is environmentally friendly.

Once I sculpted and fired, it was tumble polished. I then treated it with Liver of Sulphur (yes this is as smelly as it sounds, I do it outside). It takes time and patience but you can achieve some really beautiful results.

I design and handcraft my pieces in my studio in the heart of England and each item is unique.

This is inspired by my Grandparents I have been redecorating at home and was stripping the paint off a beautiful old chair that belonged to my Grandma and her mother before her. It always lived in the kitchen and Grandma used to sit at the kitchen/back door step, on the chair to shell the peas that my Grandad grew in the garden. I remember many times as a child sitting on the doorstep “helping”, i think I ate more peas than I put in the bowl.
So I made this Pea Pod with tiny peas loose inside it remembering such happy times with them.
