Beautiful, unique silhouettes from your photo mounted in a modern box frame ready to display or give as a present in a choice of sizes and colours.
These portraits will provide a conversation piece in your home or equally make a wonderfully unique gift for a variety of occasions such as Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Mothers’ Day etc.
They also make a great addition to a child's nursery, bedroom, or playroom.
All silhouettes come with the addition of any additional text of your choice (eg. age/date/year/birthday/etc.) at no extra cost (if you require a font other than my standard)
How to order -
Chose size and colour of frame then complete your payment. In the 'notes to seller' section at checkout, please send me photos. If you would like to include any text or dates included please provide details including placement and font name if you require one different to our default shown in pictures.
Tips for taking a good profile picture:
Make sure you are level with your subject. You don't want to be above or below them.
For women and girls the portraits look much better with hair up if the hair is long. That way you can see the form of the neck better.
Ensure the background is a light plain colour and that there are, if possible, no shadows.
If there is a problem with your photo(s) I will contact you prior to carrying out the work.

The height of popularity for silhouettes was in the Victorian era from when they declined mainly due to the introduction of photography.
In the 1920's there was a resurgence in silhouette interest and also portraiture. No longer a discarded art that was surpassed by fashionable gadgets, silhouettes were appreciated once again. Possibly the renewed interest were part of the Arts and Crafts Movement; at any rate silhouettes gained some fans thanks to some special (and flamboyant) artists.

Fortunately in the last few years a few people looked past the silhouettes in attics and museums and continued the art form. And that’s what you’ll discover here at Personalised Silhouettes – an artisan reminder of history, of romance of slower living, and as reminders of family. Now you too can have your own unique silhouette profiles created individually for you and your family and friends.
