Northbound steam trains in the Durham are mostly traveling downhill meaning there is little steam produced so I looked for a location where I could focus on the graceful Bugatti inspired streamlining given to Sir Nigel Gresley's World speed record-holding A4 steam locomotive class, I settled on the wide shallow sweeping arches of Croxdale Viaduct near Durham City, initially I was looking to go to the sunny side of the line, but on walking on the river this combination of natural and man-made silhouettes and a sparling river was too good to miss. 01/03/2008.
