A copper red flambe glaze on a porcelain goblet. The glaze is a rich red on one side and transparent white on the other with patches of flambe blue inside at the base. The underside of the foot is unglazed white porcelain. The goblet is perfect for an aperatif at the end of the day. The goblet was thrown with a UK porcelain and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable.
- The goblet is food, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe and measures approximately 10cm tall and 8cm wide.
- The bottoms is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9681.
I am intrigued by the copper red glazes in Oriental ceramics such as those from Song dynasty. I have been trying to obtain the flambe blue-purple colours that can be found on special pieces. Often the glazes turn out red and white but this goblet was a flambe success. There are only certain parts of the kiln where the effect can be achieved but customer feedback indicates that it is worth trying.
