This beautiful, fun piece of glass is made from alternate black and white stringers of glass with clear glass on top which distort the glass and create an optical illusion. This so resembles the old-fashioned sweets, it just had to be called the Humbug dish.
The kiln was heated to more than 800 degrees Celsius to melt the glass and then it was fired for a second time in a mould to create the shape of this lovely dish – perfect for Humbugs don’t you think??
It can be used purely decoratively, to enjoy its beauty, or equally could be used as a serving dish – the choice is yours.
Dimensions: LxWxH in cm
I love the technical side of kiln-formed glass and this wonderful, fun piece incorporates some fun methods to create this unusual piece.
