Zebra is a striking, variegated yarn that has been hand spun on Arwen, my Kromski Fantasia spinning wheel. As you might expect from a yarn with the name Zebra, it features a strand of white, plied with a strand of black to make a striping yarn. To bring the circus feel to the yarn, I've included shades of dark purple, dusky blue and a pale green. When worked up, this yarn will give small stripes of each colour. It will work well with the Horse yarn in this same collection.

It is made from 100% Alpaca. Alpaca is an incredibly soft fibre; it has absolutely no elasticity so will drape wonderfully. Alpaca is great to use for shawls and scarves.

This yarn was spun first and then dyed using a dip dye method with acid dyes and citric acid.

100g, approx. 14 WPI, Sport 2 ply, 110m

The inspiration here came exclusively from one particular animated film - I'll leave you to guess which. But either way, the Zebra is in the circus and ends up covered in polka dots which gave me the inspiration for the dip dyeing method to create splodges of colour in the skein.
