In these difficult times, I continue to work from home. I am only selling items which can be posted via the Post Box which is just outside my gate. I have a stock of stamps and packaging materials and, therefore, can stay open for business without imposing extra risk on other individuals. As usual, vintage linens and fabrics, re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories, may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
Poppies and daisies hand stitched onto a felted background form the design of this small hanging.
Using an embellisher machine, hand-dyed fibres and yarn snippets have been felted to commercial felt to create the background for this hanging. Poppies and daisies have been stitched in wool and cotton threads. The felted panel has been appliqued to a panel of calico. This has been backed by a layer of wadding and the edge of the 'frame' has been quilted and embellished by a simple decorative stitch. Two poppies have been stitched 'in relief' at the bottom edge of the 'frame' using silk ribbon and threads. Two daisies peep out between them.
The back of the hanging has been neatened with a panel of fabric. A hanging loop of blanket-sticthed cotton thread is securely stitched in place.
Please note: Easel not included.
Also Note: The calico on which the felted panel is mounted is a natural, un-bleached cotton fabric. It is normal for small brown flecks to be visible in calico.
Height of hanging (excluding hanging loop): 16.3 cm approx.
One in a series of felted and embroidered poppy designs.
