All the colours of summer in this warm mulithued plate made of strips of brighly coloured oranges, reds and yellows fused on a white base that is then allowed to slowly melt through a thick stack of clear glass in a 24 hr process that dilutes the solid colours into a semi opaque disc, this disc is then further heat treated to slump it into the plate shape that you see before you. There is nearly a kilo of glass in this piece. Perfect for display on a stand, or as a fruit bowl or just as a striking centre piece on your coffee table.

This is a project inspired by a design from Fusedglass.org looking at how glass flows and spreads out to find it's optimum thickness of 6mm. The final plate was made by stacking 12cm squares of glass on top of each other, I think 14 layers weighing about 1 kg and slowly melting them allowing the top coloured layer to melt through and over the the edge of the clear glass heap. The result a wonderful warm fusion of colour held together by the science of surface tension that was cooled and then reshaped to become a plate.
