GOLD VERMEIL TWIG EARRINGS
WOODLAND COLLECTION

Using the ancient and traditional lost wax casting method, these vermeil (gold plate over sterling silver) twig earrings, have been cast from a real oak twig found in my garden.
As with all my other castings from nature, every organic detail and texture of the little nodules and growths found on the twig have been perfectly captured revealing a detailed and true-to-life piece of jewellery. I have however filed and polished any rough and sharp edges, so it is smooth and very comfortable to wear.

The mighty oak is a symbol of strength, resistance and knowledge. In ancient times Druids were know to frequently worship and practise their rites in oak groves. There is something so healing about being in the natural world; but in our busy lives we can find it difficult to find time to connect with nature. In times of chaos, wearing and touching a natural talisman can help your spirit reconnect with nature.

The base metal of the earrings are sterling silver and then plated in 24 carat gold.

These earrings are also available in sterling silver and they come in various sizes.

With a love of all things dark, my inspirations are varied; fairy tales, myths and legends, textiles; all find their way into my jewellery. My main source of inspiration is nature; and generally strikes whilst I'm out exploring the beautiful Surrey forests with my dog.

I always scour the ground, as hidden beneath the leaves, a myriad of interesting objects come to light. I find beauty where others often only see decay. Whether it’s finding an attractive piece of bark or a delicate bird or mouse skull; these found treasures all make their way into my jewellery.

Some lovely gnarly oak twigs found in my garden, led directly to my Twig Collection, which I cast in silver and then hand form into bangles, rings and earrings.
