Woollen velvet-backed throw. Strata is a hand knitted one- off throw, suitable for an armchair or a small sofa/love seat. The old gold of the velvet sets off the alternating grey, ginger and red-orange stripes and gives a touch of luxury to the throw. The throw is edged with charcoal- grey velvet trim
I want my throws to have that' passed onto me by my grandmother feel' to it, so my throws are not perfectly straight and the velvet backs are made from re-purposed velvet curtains

My eldest son was my inspiration for making this item. I played with the idea of creating a throw that would appeal to a young man ( 28 at the time) who liked colour, but didn't like anything that was full on or fussy. I also wanted something that would remind me of the child that he was, in his striped T'shirts , dungarees, striped socks and Doc Marten boots.It took me another year once the throw had been completed to match it up with the old gold velvet, I put them together and 'Strata' was born
