Spike Island was the site of the now legendary concert by the Stone Roses which took place in May 1990. It has been described in the music press, as a celebration of not only their own success, but of an entire youth culture. It was a real moment in time and the peak of a period when Manchester and the north-west felt like the centre of the universe.
The artwork marks the occasion with a simple illustration of a sign whose icon depicts the outline of a typical Stone Roses fan — wearing baggy, flared jeans and bucket hat (made popular by the band’s drummer Reni).
This fantastic print would be an ideal present for any Stone Roses fan or lover of indie music and popular music culture.
