Green Man in the garden depicts an imagined image of a Green Man peeping out of the undergrowth and is inspired by a poem of the same name by Charles Causley. It is a hand painted monoprint from a lino block and printed on a hand press. The background and face is in greens, oranges, yellow and red- the colours of Autumn. Words from the poem surround the image.

It is signed and titled in pencil by the artist.

The print is supplied in a textured cream mount.

It is a variable edition; every hand painted print is unique.
Mount size: to fit a frame measuring 8 by 8 inches.
Printed on Fabriano paper using oil and water based inks.
Colour fixed using a waterbased craft spray.
The colour may vary slightly from the image.

Proseprints is keen to be green, our printed greeting cards are on recycled paper, with bio-degradable cellos, we use paper based packaging and are introducing non-plastic packaging for protecting artwork. We also support a local conservation charity, donating money from the sales of our cards and artwork.

I have always loved the mythology of the Green Man, the protector of the natural world, the woodland spirit. I then came across an excellent and 'tricksy' poem by the Cornish poet Charles Causley 'Green Man in the Garden' that begins -
'Green Man in the garden, Staring from the tree, Why do you look so long and hard,Through the pane at me?
We have linked up with a local environmental charity - Torrington Commons Conservators - and donate £5 from the sale of every print.
