This necklace is made out of natural shells (mainly cream, but iridescent colouring in some beads) and beige 6mm Swarovski pearls.

Each component was knotted onto Anchor Cotton Perle. Knotting is the traditional way of stringing pearls, which is a very robust but laborious technique.

It is finished off with silver plated bead tips and a silver-plated lobster-claw clasp.

My mum used to have a necklace of "shell teeth", very similar to this one and she always looked very elegant when she wore it with a black top. That necklace, probably from the 50s, inspired me to make this one.

I decided to knot each bead. Natural pearls are usually knotted with silk, but these larger beads have been knotted with a good quality cotton perle.

This choker is timeless and would suit ladies of all ages.
