A large square, reversible cushion made from designer label fabrics.
The front of this generous cushion is made from a high quality linen and cotton mix fabric called 'La Compiegne' (from 2017) by the French-inspired designer brand Manuel Canovas (part of Colefax and Fowler). It is very much a modern take on 17th Century Verdure tapestry designs, both in its printing and its vibrant colour-way of acid greens and bright pinks featuring a landscape of trees, flowers and plants.
The reverse of the cushion features a GP and J Baker woven upholstery fabric called 'Winton' in gorgeous shades of complementary greens and raspberry pinks with a sumptuous woven texture.
To pick up the pop of raspberry pink, I have added a bright pink bobble trim down two sides and the dark mulberry zip opening is at the base of the cushion. All raw fabric edges have been overlocked for a professional finish.
It measures approximately 60 x 58 cm and is filled with a 60 x 60 cm British-made feather pad which provides for a soft, informal feel - perfect for squidging into on your velvet sofa.
Apparently Compiegne is a northern French town on the river Oise which saw the armistice at the end of the First World War in a horse-chestnut-ringed glade in the Compiegne forest.
The Armistice memorial is located here, shrouded by the stately autumnal forest of Compiegne, as pictured in this vibrantly-coloured fabric.
The things you learn through a love of wonderful fabric!
