Item details

A Garden Dibber is used to make a hole in the ground for planting seeds or bulbs. Turned from Ash that was cut at a local railway as part of the ground maintenance, it will go on to give many years of use. I have sealed the grain and coated it in Beeswax to protect it.

Being made from wood it has a lovely warm feel, much better than the mass-produced plastic or metal ones available. And being wood it won’t rust.

The lines burnt around the shaft are 1 inch or 25mm apart so you can get the correct depth for different seeds.

After use a quick wipe down with a cloth to remove lose dirt, and it will last for years.

Inspiration for the Dibber comes from my childhood. My dad planted the garden at home with vegetables, fruits and flowers. I remember him using a wooden dibber to make a hole then I would drop a seed or bulb in and cover it with the earth.

Natures magic then did its work and months later we were eating the fresh produce, cut, cooked and eaten in less than 2 hours. No chemicals, no food miles just good honest fresh food.

The dibber makes me think of those magic times and lovely memories.
