Item details

Each letter of the word "rainbow " is raw-edge appliqued on to a square-ish calico flag in rainbow colour order. The flags are sewn to a natural jute twine, knotted at each end to make loops for hanging. These can be undone and adjusted a little to fit if needed, extending it from 82cm by a few cms. The calico is double-layered, hiding the black sewing outline.

Each flag is between 7 and 8cm wide and between 6.5 and 7cm high

Calico and jute are both natural materials so have some naturally occurring inconsistencies. The fabric used for the letters is 100% cotton and the thread is100% cotton too.
I try to re-use packaging as much as possible and I use cellophane instead of plastic where I can.

During lockdown I wanted a way of sending a virtual hug. I made lots of these for family and friends. There were flowers, positive words and ones associated with their passions e.g. "melody" for my nephew, a talented composer. Of course rainbows have been a big theme so I've made more of those than anything but I have a huge family so my latest batch has mostly gone for birthdays, new homes and becoming students. But I have one "rainbow" available until I make some more.
