A sleep/ eye/ travel mask made from high quality vintage linen and pure vintage silk.

The front of this sleep mask is made from a wonderful vintage Sanderson linen fabric called 'Chartwell' (from 1985) featuring blue trumpets of 'Morning Glory' blooms and green leaves on a soft yellow ground. The mask is backed with a 100% pure vintage silk damask fabric in a vibrant, golden yellow, with a raised pattern of leaves and flowers on slender stems.

The mask is attached to the head using soft green velvet elastic which is fully and easily adjustable, for a snug and comfortable fit, by the use of a two silver colour D ring mechanism.

The mask is interlined with one layer of pure cotton wadding for comfort and one layer of blackout blind material to exclude as much light as possible.

It measures approximately 23.5 cm wide (not including the elastic) by 10 cm high.

I use pure silk to back all my sleep masks as research showed this fabric to be one of the gentlest and most comfortable fabrics to wear directly against the delicate skin around the eyes! Warm in the winter and cool in the Summer.

I bought this beautiful vintage patterned golden yellow silk (used to back the mask) from a retired wedding dress maker who had it in her collection for over 40 years! It was a very small, much treasured piece!

Apparently, silk does not attract dirt easily but should you need to wash your sleep mask over time, please do so BY HAND using a detergent specifically for DELICATES and leave to DRY NATURALLY. The front of the mask is made from pure linen and can therefore be ironed (but DO NOT IRON either the rear silk fabric or the velvet elastic).
