Item details

Handmade lino cut print, signed, titled, dated, mounted (white), unframed.

Size of the mounted print is 40x30cm with a thickness of around 5mm. The mount size is a standard size to make finding a frame easier. The size of the aperture image is 30x20cm.

Materials include Cranfield oil based safe wash inks (made in the UK) and Fabriano Rosaspina paper (285gsm) which has a very high cotton content.

The ‘Pomegranates’ prints are limited editions. There are only a total of 12 prints within this edition. Each print is unique and varies slightly in colour and effect.

The process:

Lino printing involves carving out images and patterns from blocks of lino, layering with ink and hand pressing them onto paper to create relief prints. Reduction printing involves repeating this process layer by layer to create multi-coloured and detailed prints. This process destroys the lino with each layer meaning only a limited number of prints can be made from each lino block. Unlike digital printing, each handmade print will vary in colour and effect. These 'imperfections' are what make each print unique and rather beautiful!

Postage packaging is plastic-free.

I was inspired to create this print after cutting open two pomegranates in February this year. Their colours and juices and seeds seemed to shout at me with excitement for the fertility of spring that was yet to come.
