The mortar is hand thrown on a potters wheel. It is thrown thick to keep it heavy and robust. It is glazed on the outside only.
The pestle is formed from solid clay and partly glazed.
The mortar is approximately 10.5 cm high and 12 cm diameter. The pestle is 21 cm long.
The pestle has a few pin holes at the top of the glazed end. These are a necessary part of the glazing process to prevent the glaze sticking to the kiln.
