A sleep/ eye/ travel mask made from vintage fabric and pure silk.

The front of this sleep mask is made from genuine vintage Sanderson cotton fabric (called Albury from the 1980s, featuring pink blousy blooms on a striking teal and black background) and the reverse is 100% silk dupion in a rich Aubergine-purple colourway

The mask is attached to the head using dark mauve velvet elastic which is fully and easily adjustable, for a snug and comfortable fit, by the use of a two silver colour D ring mechanism.

The mask is interlined with one layer of pure cotton wadding for comfort and one layer of blackout blind material to exclude as much light as possible.

It measures approximately 25 cm wide (not including the elastic) by 11 cm high.

Before making my sleep masks I did a lot of research on which type of fabric is best against the delicate skin around the eyes and, no surprise really, silk came out on top as being one of the gentlest and most comfortable fabrics to wear directly against the skin! Warm in the winter and cool in the Summer.

Apparently, silk does not attract dirt easily but should you need to wash your sleep mask over time, please do so BY HAND using a detergent specifically for DELICATES and leave to DRY NATURALLY. The front of the mask is made from cotton and can therefore be ironed (but DO NOT IRON either the rear silk fabric or the velvet elastic).

This would make a beautiful present for someone who needs a mask to get a good night's sleep or who is undertaking a long haul flight.
