A large cosmetic/ accessories/ toiletries or make-up bag made using designer and vintage chintz fabrics.

The outer glazed chintz fabric of this bag is from 1975 (!), is called, unsurprisingly, 'Feathers' and is by the high-end fabric design company GP & J Baker. It features exotic plumes of feathers in lovely blues and whites set on what can only be described as a milky coffee-coloured background! I have lined this outer fabric with interfacing to give it some extra body.

The bag's lining fabric is another vintage glazed chintz, this time from 1988, called 'Little Acorns' and is by another high end fabric design company called Warner (established originally in London's Spitalfields in the 1870s). Its colourway echoes the hues of the outer fabric perfectly and showcases small clusters of acorns and oak leaves on a speckled blue ground - reminiscent of a blackbird's egg.

A 'stirred coffee' coloured rayon tassel has been added to the zip to act as a useful pull and the bag has a gusseted base so it will stand upright.

It measures approximately 30 cm wide by 23 cm tall.

I was thrilled to find a long piece of this vintage GP & J Baker Chintz from 1975 (if you can believe it?) to which was attached the original shop label and small samples of the fabric in 3 further colourways!

As you may know from viewing some of my other items, this high-end fabric design house (founded in 1884) is one of my favourites and they have produced some of the most innovative and beautiful fabric designs over the last 140 years.

I think I may just be tempted to use the remainder of the fabric to make into cushions, teamed with a contemporary duck-egg blue Linwood velvet and stirred coffee goose feather fringe I just happen to have in my secret fabric and haberdashery stash!!!!
