A beautiful lavender bag and love token in one, made from antique (late 19th Century) French cotton fabric.

This lovely heart has been made using a late 19th Century French antique fabric ‘Indienne’ style textured cotton, circa 1870, featuring exquisite flower and leaf designs in soft shades of pink, cream and blue set on a deep scarlet-red ground.

The outline of the heart has been edged using a modern ‘Ruby Slippers’ gold and red scroll gimp (from the London-based ‘Hip Haberdasher’ VV Rouleaux) which has been interspersed with vintage glass beads called ‘Lustella Pearl’.

The central bow and hanging loop has been made from ‘Ruby Slippers’ double-sided velvet ribbon and is finished with a genuine Victorian carved red glass button.

The heart has been filled with a mixture of soft stuffing and lots of dried Lavender to provide a plump and fragrant lavender bag with which to scent your room.

I have been collecting French antique fabrics for a number of years now (please see my ‘Ooh La La’ cushion range) but even when I find the smallest of fragments, like this exquisite Indienne-style fabric, I like to give them a second life in the form of these lovely lavender bags.

This love token would make a perfect present for that special someone (or even to yourself) and would help fill any room with the relaxing scent of lavender.

The heart measures approximately 25 cms x 15 cms (at its longest and widest points).
