The Clamshell necklace.

A two colour, statement necklace in a U-shaped, Art Deco style. Comprises rose gold-pink etched mirror, bright pink opaque acrylic and a piece of solid walnut wood, all on a thin ply base. Finished with gold-plated chain and a lobster claw clasp.

I finish these when I receive an order, so if you require a different chain length please send me a message at the time of ordering.

I designed the Clamshell as part of my new collection of Art Deco inspired jewellery. All the pieces in this collection have period-inspired names and borrow motifs and colours from the 1920s - 1930s.

I love to set myself design challenges to keep my product range fresh. At the tail end of 2019 I challenged myself to design a range of Art Deco inspired jewellery using acrylic and wood. Acrylic, because it's a new material for me, and wood, because it's beautiful and timeless. I spent a long time researching Art Deco motifs from the 1920s and 1930s, and saw that shells of all types were incredibly popular, so I decided I must include some shell designs in my range. Of course, I have adapted the motifs I found to bring them into the 21st century, but I still think the overall effect works well.
