An Oxford Cushion made using vintage (1981) GP & J Baker fabric 'Ainsworth' backed with a modern embroidered pure silk.

The cushion's front panel is a glazed cotton chintz featuring flowers, leaves and clusters of blooms in soft pale shades of pink, yellow and blue all set against a pale green patterned background. As this is a traditional glazed chintz it has a slight sheen to its appearance. Its Oxford border is defined using an 'Old Azalea' gimp by the 'Hip Haberdasher' VV Rouleaux.

The rear of the cushion is made from a pure 100% modern embroidered silk fabric in raspberry pink, featuring classical motifs of urns and swags. Given the more delicate nature of pure silk, this fabric has been interlined using natural calico to add protection and robustness. The rear also incorporates the cushion opening using a complementary bright pink zip.

The cushion measures approximately 53 x 53 cms (including the Oxford border) and has been filled using a 45 x 45 British-made feather pad to give a soft informal cushion.

I think it is high time chintz made a comeback and so was very happy to find enough of this pretty vintage GP & J Baker fabric from 1981 to make a cushion which would look perfect on a bed in floral bedroom.

The high-end fabric design house of GP & J Baker can trace their beginnings back to the early 1900s and continue to be innovators of fabric design today as 'Baker Lifestyle' based at their showrooms in Chelsea Harbour's Design Centre.
