Item details

A framed needlefelted painting of a long-tailed tit. In a deep box frame the 3D qualities of the bird and flowers are easy to see. I wet-felt the backgrounds using a mixture of fibres, mainly dyed merino and tussah silk fibres. I then needlefelt the bird and flowers onto that background.
The frame is 23cms x 23cms and 5cms deep

Hello! My shop is looking a little depleted because I will be in Brittany for a couple of months from the 9th of July. Due to the new customs rules I can't take my finished artwork or wools with me, but I will, however, be able to take pet portrait commissions for delivery in October, November and December. So if you would like a life-like, lasting memento of your pet, please contact me.

Long-tailed tits are my absolute favourite birds.....tiny balls of fluff that appear briefly in your garden in their family groups, peeping to each other and picking insects off twigs and leaves and then they're gone again, almost before you know that they are there. If you're lucky you might get a nesting pair in a dense bush as I did last year, which was the inspiration for this little painting in wool.
