LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY GREETINGS TO INCLUDE.
I like making lidded jars because I am told by returning customers that they often get used regularly. I want to engage with people by providing them with something thoughtfully handmade that usefully fits into their daily routine. I take care to make a well-fitting lid to add to the pleasure of its use. The surfaces have indentations and stamps to retain a layer of glaze and there are dashes of brush-applied green-brown iron oxide to add an abstract visual interest. This jar pays homage to my long-term interest in the graceful Chinese porcelains of the Song Dynasty. It also evokes a vision of fresh water flowing over gravel along a clear stream.
