Item details

A small rectangular cushion made using a vintage embossed blue silk front panel teamed with a modern mustard yellow plush velvet on the rear.

The front panel features a raised bluebird motif perched in a Japanese-inspired blossom tree, featuring white, orange and mustard-yellow blooms. Down each short edge is attached a complementary vintage tassel braid in pale blue and soft golden yellow.

The neutral coloured zip enclosure is at the base of the cushion.

The cushion measures approximately 46 by 30 cms long and is stuffed with a 50 x 30 cms British-made feather pad.

As silk is a more delicate fabric, the front panel is backed using natural calico to increase its robustness and all fabric edges have been overlocked for a professional finish.

I found this lovely piece of vintage silk fabric in my local charity shop hiding under a stash of other small fabric remnants. It was just enough to make three cushions and each one depicts a slightly different scene of birds amongst a blossom tree and flowers.
