Alexandrite is a relatively new stone, first discovered in the 19th Century in the emerald mines in Russia. As a new gemstone, it does not have an ancient history or folk lore stories, but it has already been nominated as the birthstone for June, alongside pearl and the anniversary stone for the 55th year of marriage. It is also considered a Friday stone and good for people born on that day.
