Item details

This is a brass plated, blue, sea sediment jasper cabochon necklace. The domed blue cabochon of sea sediment jasper has a spiders web pattern of brown lines across the stone. The pendant measures approximately 30mm in length and is set into a decorative antique brass with a scroll edging. The chain in also brass and measure approximately 18" or 46cm.

The necklace arrives in a pretty handmade pillow shaped box.

Sea sediment Jasper is loosely associated to the name Jasper but is part of a mineral group called Variscite, normally found in Australia. Sea Sediment is a fancy marketing name for a very pretty stone that is not as hard or as durable as Jasper, but is porous and can be dyed in many colours. Its original colour is green and sandy brown, with spider web markings. A cheaply dyed Sea Sediment jasper changes the colour of the spider web from its original sandy colour.
