This is a lovely antique looking pendant. Made from brass, the butterfly pendant is light weight and made with lots of filigree work. In the centre of the butterfly is set a pink abalone cabochon, oval in shape and approximately 15mm in length. The abalone has been highly polished to a smooth, slightly domed finish.
The chain is also brass and measures 18" but has a 5cm extension chain meaning the necklace can be worn to a length of 20". The chain is set from the antennae of the butterfly and this enables the butterfly to sit flat on your neckline and prevents spinning like a lot of pendants do when you wear them.
The necklace will arrive in a pretty handmade pillow shaped box.
Abalone is an organic gemstone coming from the shell of sea-creatures, it has been used in jewellery making and religious ceremonies for countless years. The shell is normally found in South America, Japan, Australia and China.
Abalone is believed to benefit the heart and help digestion. It strengthens muscular tissue, especially the heart and is also a strong anti-carcinogenic.
