Spectacular, live edge wooden bowl made from a beautifully rich grained piece of Honey Locust, an American hardwood, generally found close to water. This item has been hand turned in our Herefordshire countryside workshop to bring out the beauty of the graining and wood colour, enhanced by leaving a rustic bark edge to the piece.
This is a particularly unusual piece of wood - rarely seen in this country and having the most beautiful honey coloured graining. Hence the name!! I particularly enjoyed working on this piece and bringing out the best in the colour and grain. This is a must have piece for a lover of wood.
Not only would this make a beautiful gift for anyone as an ornamental piece but it would also serve as a functional item as being finished in a food safe melamine lacquer and cancauba polish it could be used for sweets, as a small fruit bowl or trinket or serving dish.
The item should not be washed with water, but cleaned and buffed using a dry cloth.
This was a beautiful piece of Honey Locust Wood that had been in my workshop for some time. As I started to work on the piece I was amazed at the beauty of the graining and the lovely honey colour of the wood. I turned the piece of wood so that there is a dipped shaping to the bowl and left the bark edging to give a lovely rustic contrast.
