Item details

Shale pebble beach combed in Yorkshire. Wrapped with copper wire and finished with 2 spirals. On adjustable brown waxed cord (56 cm max). Over time the copper will naturally develop a patina and change colour. It is advised to wear on top of clothing. Remove before bathing.
Pebble approx 35 mm x 20 mm.
Packaged in tissue and wrapped in original mono-type paper.
UK P&P free. Additional charge for other destinations.

I love to walk along beaches and have always picked up pebbles and shells. I love to craft with natural and found materials. I started to wire wrap sea glass to make pendants but I am also fascinated by other stones. There is along history of making jewellery with shale going back to Mesolithic times. Copper was first used in the Bronze Age and is lovely to work with and shape. I tend to use spirals in my wire wrapping and these are characteristic of Iron Age art and design. In my outdoor learning sessions with primary children I specialise in the Prehistoric so perhaps one aspect of my life has unconsciously become part of my art and craft.
