Decorative tile 120cm x 75cm. This is not the size of a standard kitchen or bathroom tile so please view the photographs to see the size in comparison to a pound coin and a ruler showing centimetres.
The base is made from a layer of black glass, capped with a layer of transparent iridescent gold glass, which makes it appear black or gold depending on how the light strikes it. This 6mm thick layer of fused glass is very sturdy, (though it will shatter if you drop it on a stone tiled floor).
The red Welsh dragon has been crafted by mixing glass powder with fillers to create a pliable paste. The dragon was laid on top of the background and returned to the kiln. The heat of the kiln burns away the fillers and melts the glass powder leaving a raised dragon in shiny red glass firmly fused to the background.
This tile can be used indoors or outdoors, the glass is impervious to weather and does not fade in sunlight. The small wooden easel is for display purposes and is not included in the sale.
