I painted this to create an affordable original piece of art that may be displayed in a home to soothe the soul. I find birds are inspiring, spiritual and peaceful creatures that sing us back to ourselves.

Inspiration

When the current crisis started I wasn't sure as an artist how to react, I felt that I needed to let my friends and family know how much I cared for them and to remind them to 'stay safe'. This led to me to adapting an existing personal motif I already use in my artwork into a symbolic image that I could repeat, paint and send out to all my close friends and family. Everyone who received this image, entitled ‘Nest (stay home, stay safe.)’ on paper loved it and it has inspired me to create some more for this page and also some longer lasting, significant pieces of art- for more details look at the decorative wooden panels on my page.
