This Concept addressed my own insecurities, in this troubled time, when our human mortality seems very real. I questioned my own beliefs about death and whether they were in-line with the Bible; particularly when there is debate, even among Christians, regarding, whether we go straight to heaven or sleep until resurrection. Through prayer, meditation upon scripture & vision, I reached the conclusion that the reassuring point that really matters is; that regardless, our life in death rests in the safety of God, possible through Christ. This piece aims to evoke a feeling of comfort, peace and hope to the viewer and was inspired by the following scriptures; Colossians 3:3, 1 Corinthians 15:20, John 11:11-14, Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, John 5:28-29, 1 Corinthians 15:6, Daniel 12:2, Thessalonians 4:14, Acts 2:34, Psalms 17:15, Psalms 76:5, 1 Kings 14:20, 1 Kings 16:6, 1 Kings 22:50, 2 Kings 14:16, 2 Kings 15:17, 2 kings 16:20, 2 Kings 20:21 , 2 kings 21:18 & Isiah 26:19.
