Item details
The design of this print was adapted from a print published in 1642. It shows a portrait of the then King of England, Charles I, which has been carved from a pearwood block and then printed on a handpress. The letterpress phrase reads "God Saue the King" - this isn't a mistake! The letters U and V were often used interchangeably in the 17th century. This will make a nice gift for a history enthusiast as it has an authentic look. Each print has been initialled in pencil by the artist.
