A 2" x 2" wood engraving executed on Lemon Wood depicting a Red Mason bee guarding her nest tube overnight in a bee hotel.
Printed with Calligo Safewash ink on Fabrino Technico paper 5.5" x 5.5".

I love watching the Red Mason Bees that occupy the bee hotel outside my kitchen. The females spend the night guarding their unfinished tubes which gives you a chance to observe them close up. When Shaftsbury Art Centre ran a competition with the title 'inside outside' , they seemed the perfect subject. That is how Nightwatch was born. I am pleased to say my little lady won the competition. She was printed on my vintage, restored Adana Quarto printing press.
