This button jar lid is made from repurposed oak and is for your collection of buttons, bobbins and other sewing paraphernalia. Because they are hand turned the overall diameter varies slightly between different lids but is usually between 75 and 80 mm. They will fit a medium jam jar (not supplied) with a neck diameter around 56 mm. It is designed to look like a large button and is slightly recessed underneath so that it rests on the jam jar.
My latest batch of button jar lids is made from an old discarded bureau and I was thinking that if this was made in in the 1920s or 30s the wood it is made from must be around 100 years old. This lid is almost an ancient artefact although it was made quite recently! Button collections in jars are really pretty and this makes them look even better! Search for the perfect jar and add lid!
