Description

Tea lights and candles have been used for many centuries for practical purposes, the little tea light for keeping the teapot warm and the candles for, well, light!.
These days they are very popular as decoration, adding to the ambience of the room /s.
The design possibilities for the small tea lights and the candles is endless, making an attractive, matching pair, for either, is a challenge.
The advice when crafting these holder from wood. is to use a metal or glass holder to receive the wax candle, whether a long candle or 12mm long tea light.
I have some holders for sale that are only for use with battery tea light, and these can look as attractive as the 'real thing' and you can buy a set with remote on-off.
No 20(2) in the photo is 7.5" - 19cm tall. the base is 3.5" - 8cm diameter.
It is crafted from a piece of local holly with a pleasant, mellow, cream to light brown colour and light green tints in the base. This type of turning is referred to as "an emerging" object, the lower part of the base has not been turned, and is, as it was on the branch, still with bark inclusion.
It has a copper insert to hold a standard tea light.

Inspiration

The inspiration was a request by friends and family to make some for themselves and to give as gifts. I enjoy making them, and have made a lot.
