This is an A4 print of my original ink and watercolour illustration of two red crowned cranes, also known as Japanese Cranes. The illustration shows the mating ritual of the birds, in which they engage in a graceful dance, making beautiful shapes with their elegant bodies. Red crowned cranes are thought to symbolise good luck, fidelity and longevity. Red crowned cranes are native to East Asia and can live for 50 to 60 years.

'Crane Dance’ is printed onto 230gsm matt photographic paper. Your print will arrive wrapped in tissue paper inside a hard backed envelope.

Birds are one of my favourite things to sketch when I am using watercolour and inks. These cranes were originally painted in Japanese ink and watercolours and the line work was drawn with a traditional dip nib pen.
