A dark blue glaze on a stoneware teapot with a pulled handle. The textured decoration provides a quiet visual interest.
A functional wheel-thrown teapot with a thrown circular handle on the lid. The lid has a retaining tab to prevent it from falling forward when pouring. The wall behind the spout is perforated to retain tea leaves.
The pot was thrown with a UK stoneware and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable.
- All of my work is one-of- a-kind and made by hand.
- The teapot is dishwasher safe and measures approximately 10cm tall and 11cm wide excluding the handle.
- The bottom is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9628
I love making teapots because, while they do take time to make, I am told that they often get used with pleasure every day. This connection with someone's daily routine is an important to me as a ceramic artist. I am particularly pleased with thick layers of rich blue glaze like that on some British art pottery.
