A red flambe and white porcelain octagonal bowl with the glaze being transparent white where thin. The inside is deep red and flambe purple blue where thick. The outside is red breaking to white and lightly imprinted with a fish stamp.
This wheel thrown bowl is perfect for fruit or nuts or it could simply be displayed for its interesting shape and rich colour.
The bowl was thrown with a UK porcelain and shaped octagonal while still soft. After biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable.
- All of my work is one-of- a-kind and made by hand.
- The bowl is food, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
- The bowl measures approximately 6cm tall and 17cm wide.
- The bottom is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9604
I find that making bowls is particularly satisfying because they can engage with the owner as decorative display or, when filled, as an aid to a hosts culinary creativity. Sales are often accompanied by a two-way discussion of purpose and aesthetic interests.
Pottery bowls also provide a platform for freedom of expression in the three-dimensional design sense and a broad surface for painting a personal statement.
