A copper red flambe glaze on a porcelain goblet. The glaze is a rich red with patches of flambe blue and transparent white towards the base.An elegant wheel-thrown porcelain goblet. The underside of the foot is unglazed white porcelain. The goblet is perfect for an aperatif at the end of the day.
The goblet was thrown with a UK porcelain and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable.
- All of my work is one-of- a-kind and made by hand.
- As with all my pottery, items are food, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
- The goblet measures approximately 9cm tall and 8cm wide.
- The bottoms is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9682.
I am intrigued by the copper red glazes in Oriental ceramics such as those from Song dynasty. I have been trying to obtain the flambe blue-purple colours that can be found on special pieces. Often the glazes turn out red and white but this goblet was a flambe success. There are only certain parts of the kiln where the effect can be achieved but customer feedback indicates that it is worth trying.
