An elegant blue porcelain bowl showing colour variations reflecting the melting and flow of the glaze over and into the stamped markings. The glaze is transparent near the rim, strong blue further down and grey blue where it has pooled at the lowest level. This wheel thrown bowl is perfect for showing off your fruit, oranges would create an eye-catching contrast The bowl was made with a UK porcelain and shaped octagonal while still soft. After biscuit firing the glaze was applied in several layers on the inner rim and fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable.
- All of my work is one-of- a-kind and made by hand.
- This bowl is food, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
- The bowl measures approximately 6cm tall and 16cm wide.
- The bottoms is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9663.

I really enjoy the whole process of throwing and shaping bowls. There is plenty of scope for freedom of expression with regard to form, there is an upper surface for artistic treatment and an underside for adding an element of pleasure. When the bowl is turned over textural decoration, an individual stamped pot number and my personal mark, a small letter P will be seen. The bowl was fired with a blue glaze that pools inside to grey-blue, punctuated with rich brown streaks of brush-applied iron oxide. The outer wall shows stamped marks through a smoky blue haze. The underside is more lightly glazed to give a transparent green near the foot. This bowl would make a personal statement on a table or shelf with or without contents and invites inquisitive handling. Equally it could be directly functional for cooking and serving food.
