Original textile artworks are now available to buy in The Biscuit Factory Gallery here in Newcastle upon Tyne - a great selection of art, books and a cafe just out of the city centre. I am running some workshops there this year too - find out more here -

You can find my cards and giclée prints in the fabulous Just Canny, on Park View in Whitley Bay - if you're local go visit - Park View is full of indie shops and more cafes!

I have been walking along the coastline and across the hills, inspired by the book 'Windswept' by Annabel Abbs. Now, I'm busy working up ideas developing from these walks.
Check back for updates or follow me on Instagram @StitchDonna to see what I have found on my walks!
Oh and if you sign up for my newsletter there's a lovely Folksy discount just for you - available until November 2022

Near where I live, there is a cycle path with a beautiful wildflower border. Watching the flowers grow and bloom has inspired me to create a series of works based on wildflowers - particularly looking at how they can bring colour and life to sometimes forgotten corners of the city, as well as the countryside.
Oxford Ragwort actually came to the UK from Italy, it escaped from the Oxford Botanic garden in the eighteenth century and soon spread around the city, hence it's name. Since then it has spread across the whole country via railway lines. The stone and clinker at the side of the tracks mimicked the plant's Sicilian home and the breeze of passing trains helped spread the seed further along the tracks. (To find out more about wonderful weeds and wildflowers try Richard Mabey's excellent book 'Weeds - In defence of Nature's most unloved plants')
