Item details

The word Tensegrity is used to describe structures that used tension to give structural integrity. Using the tension in the strings and the counter balance from the stone is how this sculpture gets its gravity defying appearance.

All materials used were found washed up at my local beach and have been cleaned and sanitised using boiling water heated over an open fire

I normally have to have a good rummage through my supplies, trying out different options before I get an idea of what I want to build, but for this I had a really luck day when I found the materials for this sculpture.
All the driftwood used here was found on the same day, during one of my beach combing missions. I knew instantly what I was going to do with it.
